NUMBER THE STARS

Characters

Annemarie is my favorite person. She faced up to the two soldiers. She had a special mission. She had to get the handkerchief to Uncle Henrick. But she didn’t know what was in the handkerchief.

Jewish people

The Jewish people had a church called the synagogue. They have New Year’s Eve on a different day. The star of David is the special symbol.

Bravery

Annemarie was brave when she faced up to the two soldiers. Peter was brave too, when he made the secret paper. Peter smuggled the Germans for his people. Peter got the Jewish people to safety. He risked his life for his people.

Hardship

The Germans took away most of their food. They ate the meat. They took away the coffee beans. They took away their fish. They took away their chocolate and all their dairy.

My opinion

I like the book because it is very adventurous and sad but very very cool.

Characters:

In this book there are 8 main characters. Their names are Ellen, Ann Marie, Peter, Kristie, Lise, the Johansons, Germans and the Rosens. Ellen is an only child who is best friends with Annemarie. Kristie is Annmarie’s sister who is a bit silly.

Jewish people:

In this story some of the main characters are Jewish like Mr and Mrs Rosen and Ellen. Peter is helping the Jewish people get to Sweden. Lise was also helping before she died.

Bravery:

There are some brave people in this story. Annemarie was brave to lie that nothing important was in the little box. Miss Johansson is brave because she ran all the way to the boat and back. The Rosens are brave too because they didn’t know where they where going and kept quiet.

Hardship:

The people in Denmark could not have bread, milk, sugar or meat. The Germans took all the meat and other dairy products for their own army. Kristie always wanted cupcakes with yellow icing but there was no sugar to make cupcakes.

My opinion:

I think it’s a sad story. I feel for the people who had to go though that war. It’s not fair that the Jewish people got taken away. They must have been really scared.

Annemarie , Ellen , Petter ,Rosens , Lise and Kristie are the best characters.

The Rosens are Jewish. They are trying to get away from the army the lady and the baby and the old man are Jewish. They go to church . That’s how the Germans found their names.

They cannot have leather , milk , cupcakes , butter meat, newspapers and anything else and sugar, and coffee and tea.

The Resistance are a team. Many try to kill the enemy when they are sleeping .

I felt very sad when the German army came to their door. I felt very sad

The characters.

The first character is Ellen. She was very sensible and good. The next character is Anne Marie. Her sister Kirsti is silly.

Jewish people.

The Jewish people had to go on a boat to get away from the bad soldiers. They have to get to the other country Sweden.

Hardship.

They can’t have soft drink or drink chocolate, but the worse thing is they have to be in by eight o clock. So that’s bad and they cant talk about big important stuff on the phone.

Bravery.

Ellen thought that she was not brave, but she was heaps wrong. She was very brave, but she didn’t think so.

My opinion.

I reckon it was so good because I liked it, so did other people in the class.

Peter was so brave. Ellen was pretending to be a sister. The Germans stopped Ellen when she was going to Annemarie’s house.

The Jewish people light candles on Friday night and their New Year is different. Ellen has the star of David on her necklace.

They did not have any bread, milk, coffee, tea, meat, cheese or chocolate.

I was so happy when Annemarie and Ellen were saved. The sad part was I thought Ellen was going to get kidnapped.

Characters

The characters are: Anne-Marie, Ellen, Mr and Mrs Johansen, the Rosens, Peter and Lise. The main characters are: Anne Marie, Ellen, Mr and Mrs Johansen and the Rosens. The Germans are the bad characters in the story. Kirsty is Anne-Marie’s little sister. Ellen is Anne-Maries best friend.

Jewish People

Every Jewish person had to wear the star of David. In the war the star of David was a big yellow star. The Germans made the Jewish people wear them so they can take them away to the gas camps.

Hardships

The bad thing about the war was the Danish people missed out on lots of things. They had no meat. They didn’t have any tea or coffee.  Also they had no cup cakes.

Bravery

The bravest person in the story is Peter. Both Peter and Lise worked in the Resistance.  The Resistance is a people’s army. Lise died when she was in the Resistance.

My Opinion

My opinion on the book is that I really liked it.  My favourite character is Ellen. I don’t like the Germans.

Characters

Peter is a brave man to sacrifice himself. It’s very good that Peter helped stop the war. It was cool that Peter saved the Jewish people.

Hardships

It’s not fair that in World War Two people couldn’t eat meat. Why are people not allowed to have cup cakes? There was no butter or sugar to make them.

Bravery

Peter is a very brave man to save all the Jewish people. I say thank you for saving the Jews.

My opinion

It was good but sad. I felt happy for the characters that lived. I recommend this book.

There is a silly little girl called Kirsti. Her sister is called Annemarie. She is a teenager. Her friend is called Ellen. She is also a teenager.

The star of David represents the Jewish people that go to church. And the Germans hunt them down and sometimes execute them.

The Germans banned newspapers so the people didn’t know anything and they confiscated dairy products and ate them with their army. And they couldn’t go out at a certain time.

Peter and Lise were very brave because they were in the Resistance. Sometimes not knowing stuff is better because if you know you will have to act and if you don’t know it’s easy to pretend it.

They Germans were very mean and stupid and they were very greedy. Also they were savages and weren’t fair also very careless.
